Help Screen wake on text notification?

How can I have the screen wakeup on a text notification (with popups turned off and AOD off)?????

I don' have or AOD enabled and my screen comes on when I receive a text.
Do you have notifications enabled for your text app?

Yeah I have notifications on. the blinking light comes on and when I turn the phone on manually to go to the lock screen the notification is there as well. I have pop up over lock screen notifications turned off but that shouldnt prevent the phone from waking......

using verizon messages+

Ah, I don' believe messages + does that.
When I used that app, I set light manager to turn the screen on when I received a message

It did on my S7 edge....

Nope. Googling it, messages+ didn't do it on the S6 either.
Do you still have your S7 to make sure you're not mistaken?

I dont have the phone anymore no. But looks like it was a glitch I guess??

Is there a work around for this? I dont like AOD but I like wen the phone wakes and shows me part of the message on the lock screen.....

You can use an LED managing app like light manager or may lightflow.
The problem I had using that was it even turned on the screen when I received email.
You can also use a different text app.
I didn't like messages+ much because I couldn't customize it to my liking and the emojis are awful.
