Help Screen won't go on cause of brightness app

I downloaded an app that changed the brightness of the screen throughout the day. And accidently I set it to go all the way off now. And I uninstalled the app and the screen still won't display. How do I fix it. The app set the screen setting to total darkness so I cannot change the setting cause I cannot see the screen.

Did you check in the system files to see if the app left any folders/files behind. Apps usually leave the folders and files behind even after uninstallation. Just a thought.
One time I installed an app and it messed up the wifi controls. it still wasnt fixed even after an uninstall. I checked and found some of its files (labeled with its name or something suggestive that it belonged to that app) in the files on my sgp 5 . Once I deleted all of its folders that I could find the problem was fixed. Maybe this will work in your case?

Since you can't see the screen you may have to factory reset your device.
