On j3 when I save contacts to ad card it only saves a- n. How do I get it to save all a- z? It's New 64gb sd card

Contacts can't be saved to SD card. You are probably saving to SIM card. Do not use SIM card to save contacts.

So how did you go about saving your contacts to your microSD card? Assuming you just used the 'Import/Export' option in your phone's Contacts app? And how did you determine your saved contacts listing was only a-n? With my S3 the default file format is .vcf a not too common file format so something like a text editor doesn't work out very well. This 'Contacts VCF' app does a nice job (be sure to muss with its Settings so it defaults to your card and not the internal storage).
