SD CARD AS INTERNAL STORAGE

Does anyone know how to convert microSd into internal Storage for a Lgv40. The Lg,V40 Does not
Have the default option under storage to format
as internal storage.

This link shows how to do it on a samsung galaxyS7 no
Root.

I never saw the option when setting mine up. That being said, I don't believe that I would have formatted mine as internal. I think I'd prefer to be able to move the MSD from phone to phone as opposed to locking it to one.

Supposedly that option went away with android 8.0 I thought. Good Riddance it causes issues. If you format your memory card as merged/internal - then any hickup with your memory card (like jarred out of place during a drop) can cause you to loose files/apps/data etc. As the formating is sort of like running raid 0 on a computer - stripping mode. Data can be written between the 2 memory sets without any coherence. So you lose parts of files and the system goes nuts.

It is much safer- and faster to leave them seperate. Most good apps have options to put their data sets on external - DO THAT. LIke Spotify for example - when downloading your playlists - have it put them on the memory card. now they aren't on App space and it can load faster - as it will read both internal for the app and external for the playlist at the same time.

Photos - same thing put the camera location on external - now you can remove your card - and your pics can go with - and you don't need a cable to transfer them. Anyway - good luck.

And as one of the above post pointed out, using an SD card for system is not a good idea. The card needs to be formatted in a special files system probably for encryption, that will put more stress on the card and a slow card will slowdown the whole device.

So if you really want this feature, you should buy the best quality card with A1 certification (for running apps), and with the largest capacity possible (smaller cards tend to wear out faster at the memory cells being used repeatedly) to minimize the risk of damaging the card after a long period of use.

Usually with better branded- faster SD cards your buying the same memory chips as is used by the mobile maker for the internal memory. Or better in some cases.

Biggest thing I like about using them separately -like a PC with 2 hard drives. I can take it out when I need to and either put or pull stuff off of it on a whim.

I've still not moved any apps to the MSD. I did move them on my old S5 in order to maximize the 16gb storage.

I went through my list and found somewhere between 40 - 50 that are movable, though with the storage in the V40, I may never move them.

Because maybe only one out of 100,000 users really need that. Cloud storage is the future.
What has cloud storage got to do with this? You can store media without formatting as internal, and I'd say you can do it better without. And you don't store installed copies of apps in the cloud. So clouds don't come into this at all.

also with your media on someone else's server and you don't have network access - you have no media. Or files or whatever else you might need.

I love spotify - but I love the most is the ability to download cache tunes for when I don't have coverage, or can't use coverage. which happens more than people want to admit. (we have 3 buildings where I get no signal at all - neither does any other carrier - it's on purpose)
