SD Card formatting for Samsung Galaxy Tab S + TWRP

Zilliman

Newbie
My Tab S is wiped clean, has no firmware, except TWRP.

I am trying to use an SD Card to install ROMs from it.

I am formatting the SD Card in Windows 7, copy the necessary zip files into it, insert it into the Tab S, reboot into recovery. I have tried FAT32 and exFAT.

No matter which format type I try, TWRP does not see" the SD Card.

Can someone please tell me what's happening and how I can get TWRP to "see" my SD Card?

PS I have tried 3 different SD Cards to make sure.

Presume you are switching the storage location in TWRP from internal storage to the external sd card? Just checking as it not obvious in some of the TWRP screens that the line of text saying something like "internal storage" is where you can select the storage location from - if you press on this it should let you select storage location and switch to the external sd card. What size of cards have you tried, as the tab may be limited to a certain max capacity of sd card eg 32GB (I don't know the device itself)?

If you know this already, then it might point to either an issue with the version of TWRP you are running, or a hardware issue with the tab's sd card slot itself.

Edit : you'll be able get more specific help in one of the two Tab S sub-forums on the site, depending on which size you have.

Well I used another Windows application to partition/format the SD cards, and now it works.

I was using "MiniTool Partition Wizard Free" and somehow it was messing up. I then downloaded and used "SD Formatter" and the SD card is now seen in Windows and TWRP.
