SD Card Galaxy J7

I've been using my SD card in my new j Galaxy j7 for a few months now I've got 1300 songs and about 800 pictures. Have not had any problems at all. Phone kept wanting me to encrypt my SD card. It would show up in my notifications daily and would not go away when I would swipe. So, I finally encrypted it. And now it wants me to format the card before it will let me use it. But formatting means deleting the files. This is ridiculous. I just want to use my files on my SD card. The files are there still. It just won't let me utilize them. Can anybody please help me? Is there any way to do this on my phone?

Well it's not that ridiculous. It's not a simple task like changing the name of a folder, encrypting the media is changing the underlying file system itself.
If you don't have enough free storage in your J7 to back everything up off the microSD card, do you have access to a computer? Remove the card and mount it in the computer or use a USB cable or a wireless solution like AirDroid to copy all the data off the card; then go through the encryption process and restore your data. If you don't have access to a computer or even an external drive, depending on bandwidth speed you can use online storage as a backup instead.
Basically, you should be backing up all your data anyway. Look into doing regular, full backups using Samsung's SmartSwitch utility:
