sd card is being used as mass storage device

I cannot use my camera or view my photos because of this error
 
I don't know why it would make a difference, but search for "<your device> PTP" (substituting your device name for "<your device>)" and follow the instructions to set PTP.

PTP = camera USB mode; MTP = media device USB mode.
