Sd card not recognized

Having sd card issues... Was unmounted from LG g pad 7.0 tablet randomly and now it doesn't recognize the card ... Can't even mount it back ... I put it in another phone and doesn't show up on that phone either.... Anybody know how I can fix my sd card ? Thx

Try it in a PC with a card reader, if it doesn't show up there it's toast.
SD card failures are common, especially off-brand ones. Going forward, use only name-brand cards (make sure they aren't counterfeit, best way is to buy from a store not online), back up your data regularly and keep a spare card on hand.

Yeh its a samsung 64gb card.. Bought from best buy 4 yrs ago ..had movies pics vids on there...

SD cards, like all flash memory, have a life span. It's measured in write cycles - so the more data gets written to it, the faster it dies. We're talking about hundreds of thousands of write cycles, though... so it would take years to wear it out. You're talking about a 4-year old card, though, so it could just be dying of natural (well, digital) causes. I have always recommended regular backups to a PC, and then backing THAT up to the cloud. You can't have your stuff in too many places: but if it's in just one, it's a matter of time before it's gone. You can TRY some data recovery software, but expect the worst and hope for the best. Good luck

Thx cheif ... Well at least it was my backup... Main SD still goin strong...... At the time it went south I was downloading some torrent files.... Wud that have anything to do w it...

Downloaded disk digger ... I was able to get the media back ... But sdcard is still not able to b recognized ...

It depends on what exactly failed. I did once briefly revive a card with a Master Boot Record failure - it lasted long enough for me to get the important data recovered, but the next time I tried to mount it it failed instantly and irrecoverably. Most recovery utilities couldn't do anything at all with that one (which was also a Samsung card, except more like 4 months old than 4 years, and lightly used. I never assume that data on SD are safe).

So I'd say that if you've got your data back you've probably done all you can.

I would imagine that torrents are writing a whole bunch of data to the card. That would significantly shorten its life span.

I have a SanDisk 400GB microSD card and use Google Photos and/or OneDrive to back up photos and videos to the cloud as I take them. I also have a 12TB NAS at home, mirrored to two identical 6TB drives. I back up all our devices to it as well. My redundancy has redundancy!

I do back mine up but sometimes they just need a couple of reformats especially if you change brands of device. I've got one 4G Sandisk that was in a Barnes & Nobel e-reader, then in a Kobo, then an inkBOOK. inkBOOK is Chinese and sold in Poland. It's android and does not have Google. It uses Mediaplay. I have now got an Onyx Boox which does have Google on 4.2. I used the same card on all. No problem until the BOOX. I know with 4.2 you can have apps on the SD card, but the Boox wrote the apps on the SD card and the EXT SD card. I had to reformat a couple of times. The Boox is also Chinese. I don't intend to use Google anything on it. It's a ereader, so I'll read. In peace.

I've used the same card in phones of various brands for years and have never seen internal apps copied to the EXT SD card like that.

Wow... you've done all that and the card's still working? Buy a lottery ticket!

That's why it's advised to NEVER de-fragment SSDs. It's unnecessary and puts a bunch of write cycles on the chips. Defragging an SSD will not make it any faster - except it will fail faster.

You want your card back??, here's what you want to do:

Download MiniTools on your computer..insert your card not with any card reader..try with something like this(exhibits1)..then delete any partition your card has from within the MiniTools..

Let me know.
