Help Sd card only reading some files

I recently did a manual update to android 5.0 on my desire eye and I saved everything to my Samsung 8gb micro sd card either between using HTC sync or the update many of my photos videos and music files won't play. They were working before the update but for some reason some chose to work. I can physically see the file but wen I try to play a music file it says it's not formatted or it's a triangle with an ! In it for a photo. I need help to retrieve my things
