"SD Card" vs "USB Storage" ?

In another thread, somebody pointed out the distinction between "SD Card" and "External SD Card" or "External Storage" (can't recall which).

But I just popped a micro SD into my Note and now it looks murkier.

Seems like Settings > Storage lists "USB Storage" and "SD Card".

Ok, sounds logical: USB Storage is soldered into the mobo and supplements "Device Memory"..... and "SD Card" is the little chip that I just plugged into the device. And Settings > Storage > SD Card > "Unmount SD card to safely remove it" seems to support that.

But then I jump over to the "My Files" app and things look different.

"My Files" is listing the directory structure of "USB Storage", but calling it "/sdcard"

And, finally, I can't find anything that will list the contents of the micro-SD I just installed. Settings > Storage > SD Card offers up options to mount/unmount and format... So I guess Android knows it's there. Also, I exercised the "Format" option just to make sure....

Can anybody elucidate?

Maybe I'm using the wrong File Manager?

What type of microsd card did you use? There are lots of fakes out there. Also what file explorer are you using now?
I have always used Astro with no problems.

Astro did the trick. Thanks!

"Local Storage 2" comes up as mnt/stcard/external_sd
