SD Card, what to keep?

OK, this seems like it would need to go in more than 1 forum, but I'm going to try here first...

I upgraded from a BlackBerry to my Incredible and just brought my 2 GB SD card straight over from the BB, so I could have my ringtones and pics.

Now, it's a month later and I'm ready to get a bigger card, but due to OCD, I don't want crap on the card that I don't need, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to migrate stuff over. I know I could just bring my ringtones and pics, but many apps like to use the card for storing prefs and such, so I don't know the best way to do this. Are there tricks to this, or dop I just have to hope for the best?

Thanks in advance for any help!

What do you need to migrate ? If you want only photos and ringtones then you move only those folders to this new card. I have done many times SD card change on my X10, I just turn ON in windows to see hidden folders and just copy one card on desktop and then copy it on a new card and it works great. Hope it helps

Basically, photos ringtones and stuff that is installed alongside some of my apps. I was mostly wondering if Android OS put any kind of necessary system files besides what I put on there...

Best guess: Save the contents of the old card, then install and format the new card, and then run any apps you have to let them set up any directories or files they need.
This will leave the new card with the base structure / files.

Then copy what you need from the saved files from the old one.

A lot of apps will create their own folders on the SD card. What I would do is copy the existing photos, ringtones, etc to your hard drive; insert the SD to your Incredible and let the Inc format it to get it's folder structure on there; then copy the tones & pics over to the SD.
