sdkmanager crashes

I'm using android studio on the latest version of Ubuntu

After sucessful installing Android Studio and builing my app, I deleted both studio, the Sdk, and any related files.

After reinstalling studio, the sdkmanager now crashes as per attached.

I'd appreciate if anyone could shed some light as to why

I fixed this by adding SDK platforms via studio, which asked me to accept the licenses and it all works again.
