Seams on phone splitting! What?!?!

How the heck does this happen? I will be promplty getting a new phone tomorrow... But was just curious if anyone has seen this before or knows how it could happen!

Ouch! That looks like the battery is swelling up inside causing the back cover to bulge like that. Good thing you're already all set up for a replacement, that's not a good sign. Has your phone been feeling warm/hot lately?

Yikes. The battery is clearly failed. Whatever you do, please don't try and charge it. It could barbecue more than just your phone.

Good to know lunatic59, thanks! I will just have to live without a phone for 24-48 hours (gasp!). I have noticed extreme warmth on multiple occasions through out the life of this phone (I've had it since original launch), but it's pretty sporadic. Glad I am upgrade eligible!

Wow. Seeing this thread prompted me to look at my S7E...it's almost 2 years old...still on the original battery.

I see that I have a very very slight separation of the back near where the volume controls are located...

Sheesh, also considering these are the same generation batteries as the Detonate 7 I'd be concerned.
