Help Searching for a person to call only searches on tel nr not name

I've got a Sony Experia Z3 Compact with KitKat on. When I want to make a call, in the box where you can type the number you want to call it says "Type Name or Number". When I start typing, it only searches on the tel nrs in my Contact list, and not on the names.
I.e. if I press 223, it needs to search for names like ABE. I've seen a number of other phones that does work like that, so I guess it's a setting somewhere but I can't find it.
Help appreciated.
 
You could go into your contact list, search for your contact. It will then display the details, just press on the number and ring.
 
Thanks. I would prefer to use the functionality that's there and supposed to work, rather than the work around as you've suggested. It's 2 - 3 extra taps.
 
Thanks. I had a look at the link you gave and the only real suggestion that they have on there is to still use the Contacts as per your initial suggestion. That is currently my work around that I am using, but would prefer the quicker way.
