Searching from the browser address bar

Just got an HTC Incredible. I'm not sure if this just applies to Incredibles or all Droids. Love the phone but can't seem to solve one problem. I'm a Google Chrome user so I'm used to typing search terms in to a browser address bar. On the Incredible's browser, when you erase a web address from the address bar and start typing in a search term, it automatically prepends it with http:// . Is there any way to not have it automatically do that? Seems redundant since you don't need it to reach a website any more.

Thanks,
MK

This is the stock browser I assume? I just tried it on my Vibrant and it worked as you would expect it to...no http:// was auto inserted. Have you looked in options? I checked and found nothing relating to that.
