Second Froyo release

I updated to Froyo a couple of months ago (or whenever it was) via Kies. I'm on Orange in the UK. Today for some unknown reason I decided to load up Kies and see if there were any new updates. Much to my surprise it said there was. It said:

current
PDA:JPE / PHONE:JP1 / CSC:JP9 (ORA)

new
PDA:JPI / PHONE:JP1 / CSC:JPA (ORA)

I thought I'd give my phone a factory reset before updating as when I updated from 2.1 to 2.2 I had a few bits leftover. So I did that and plugged in to Kies and it said I was on the newest firmware! Right, so, I restarted both the PC and phone and tried again. Once again it said there was an update. So I went ahead and updated.

Everything went okay. I'm now sporting the new firmware. I haven't really tried it out, just thought I'd let people know. I'll update this if there's any difference fromthe previous version.

I thought it odd that they bothered to release another Froyo. Anyone have any ideas what's going on? I know the Orange update came out a few weeks before the unbranded version the first time around. Maybe this is just an Orange update? I've no idea. Sorry if I've not explained this very well but I've had a few beers and can't really be arsed sorting my grammar out right now. I'm going to bed. Ouch.

Nice to see thora had a successful update :). I tried , it connected ok started the up date so off i went .when i came back to it the phone had frozen on the download screen. I tried to do emergency firmware recovery but could not see phone .tried rebooting as advised by kies and ended up with a phone triangle pc logo .I then looked on the FORUM and found out about the HARD RESET .Not on this phone i got the little android up but no options .so now after a rant at samsung its of to sunny scotland for a reload of O/S. Has anyone else found a lack of options on their phone or is it just me . If its a few of you i,m after a refund

What sort of options is it lacking? And are you on Orange or unbranded?

I am on orange and not rooted . got the phone back .still on 2.1 so pointless asking really . If you have a look on the net for hard reset there are screen grabs of what the phone options will look like.

No one else had 2 Froyo updates then? Just me? Wow I'm super special. I don't see any differences between this version and the first one, although the camera has yet to crash since the update. Wifi still locks sometimes when turning it on and the GPS is still shite.

Yes I got a Froyo update today, only recently updated to 2.2, from 2.1and now a further mini update.
Got the Samsung Galaxy from Carphone Warehouse, have it running on 3.

I tried the update to see it would cure the problems I am having with the 'back button' most of the time it does not work, sometimes it does though????.

Anyway with this update, the back button is still the same

Kies has updated and asked if I want to update my firmware....

From: PDA:JPS/PHONE:JP4/CSC:JPN (XEU)
To: PDA:JPU/PHONE:JP4/CSC:JPO (XEU)

Going to give it a shot now, I hope it improves my phone as I've been having no end of issues with it lately.

Just did update, and did quick test and the bug for wifi has been fixed, the back button bug seems better, not 100% though.
Still on 2.2 but the build and version number have changed, not tested gps yet, will let you know if I spot other changes.

I'm unbranded from Cpw, with O2 sim.
Update went smooth, after switching off wifi and removing sim and micro sd card incase of complications and any possible errors.

After using my phone for a week since my last post I can say the camera still hasn't crashed and wifi only crashed once, not long after the update.

I said before that the GPS was still no good, but it seems to have improved since then. Maybe that was a one-off (or two- or three-off!), because now I can usually get a fix within a few seconds. Sometimes it takes longer, but not much. Occasionally it takes a couple of minutes as before.

So all in all it seems there are improvements. Well done Samsung for fixing these things. (If, of course, they are fixed and I've not just been lucky this last week!)

Been few days for me know and wifi is yet to crash, it connects and unconnects so so fast from wifi, instead of hanging and crashing.

Camera weren't a issue for me before the update, and still seems fine.

Not tested GPS yet though.

Like you said Thorabird, well done to samsung for once, :-)
