Pretty emberesing, just started the game and I can't get the sword, apparently I'm sapossed to jump off the bridge but nothing is working. What am I missing? Or is it just not compatable

Actually I'm supposed to whip it and rip it out of the tree trunk but the only buttons that do anything are directional and dash

Walk around the river until you can get to the sword
