Secure Texting - What works best.

Hello,

I am new to the Forum and could not find a thread that answered my specific question on this topic. Through my work, I send a number of text messages that I need to keep secure. I understand that if I use the default SMS text application on my Android device, my text messages can be retrieved after they are deleted from my device.

I am wondering if there is a secure text messaging app I can use where they can not be retrieved via my personal device or have text logs appear on my cell phone bill. I have tried a number of apps and currently have TextSecure installed on my device. It seems however (correct me if I am wrong) that the recipient of the text message must have this application as well in order for the message to truly be secure. Is there an application where this is not required? Also, is there an application or way I can avoid the messages showing up in my default android messaging app as they do show up here with TextSecure.

To clarify, I am only concerned with security on my end. I am not worried about the messages being read or showing up on the recipients phone bill. Only mine. I need to be sure that if someone finds my device, there is no way for them to retrieve me deleted messages. I also need to be sure that the logs don't show up on my phone bill.

Any help would be much appreciated. If this topic exists already, my apologies.

If you don't want the logs to show up on your phone bill, that means that it should not go through the carrier's network, but through an alternative like the internet. Basically, you have to use a chat app.
