Security Software ( pref. shareware )

Hello there, I'm having some security problems at my home at the moment. I want to set up a IR cam to monitor when I'm not home. I have a simple IR cam (wired), cable and power supply already. Its not much, nothing speacial but right now anything is good. My question is there any free PC programs out there that are worth a download? In the near future I plan to get a wireless setup but no funds at the moment for such a project.

Can anyone recomend anything? I know nothings for free but something to get started, not looking for something to stream to my phone (yet) but it will run to my PCs harddrive (UPS backed), motion activated would be nice to save space, we have animals but this setup will be exterior.

Thanks for the reply - I checked last night and I don't have enough cable to run my web cam to where I want it. I do have a IR wired water proof cam but it only has a video/audio RCA connection, so out came the ol VHS. This will work until I have the wireless system I want. Now to find a tape...
