Security when using credit cards /paypal

How secure is it to make purchases from The Market or other websites using an android phone? If for instance, anyone else gets their hands on my phone, are there any records of credit card / paypal etc details that they can access?

I don't believe so, but you can add a pattern password to your phone. That assures that only you can access the phone.

Ok, I see that Market purchases go through Google Checkout.

Worryingly, now that I’ve set it up, it doesn’t even ask for a password on the phone (does on PC). Is there any way to make it require a password?

I’m not sure what would happen if someone were to make a purchase from another site, whether it would ask for a password again or not, but to be safe, I think I might delete the card once I’ve made purchases and enter it again when I need it.

Yes, I should add a lock pattern, but hate having to unlock every time I use the phone.
