Help securityfix.apk

Yesterday my notification bar informed me an automatic update had downloaded. I tapped to see what it was and it was a file called securityfix.apk. I had no idea what it was but it wasn't allowed to install because it hadn't come from the play store. I deleted it and looked online.

Turns out it is a virus. My question is, how did this file get pulled to my tablet? Surely anything like this has to be called down by an existing app, but all my apps are legit from the store and are by well known vendors.

Has anyone else had this?

If it was a notification, it might be something called Airpush? Sly App devs can force apps to push ads to your notification bar.

Have a read, run some of the apps mentioned there and see if any installed apps have that capability.
