Selfie video question

Hello, I've read there is a 4GB limit when recording video. That probably explains why the video I was recording at HD720 stopped at 52:42 and the file size was 4.1G.
I'm interested in making a full-one-hour 'selfie' video. I'm trying to keep the file size to a minimum, but for quality purposes 720 is the lowest acceptable setting. My question, does anyone know of a way or setting adjustment that would help reduce the overall size?
I've also read the selfie lens is wide-angle. I don't need it to be, so if i could somehow change the lens to normal it would help reduce the data.
Thank you.

Are you using a FAT32 formatted micro-SD for storage? Because around 4GB is the file size limit of that.

Hi Mike, thank you for your reply! I know my phone had around 10G available, but as a matter of fact, I did just install a 32G Micro SD card a few days ago.
To be honest, I'm not sure if the card was formatted. If it was, i'm not sure if it was formatted at FAT32, and sorry to say I don't really know what that means.
Would the video have been recorded on the micro-SD card? If so, and it is limiting my video size, should I just remove it and use the phone's storage instead?
Thank you.

Try the phone storage first, because that doesn't have a file size limit, apart from the amount of free space available. micro-SDs are formatted by default as FAT32, which does have the 4GB the file size limit. The default storage location should be either in the camera app or the device settings.

I've got a 512GB micro-SD in my Huawei, that I pre-formatted on my Macbook as EXFAT,
which doesn't have file limits. And that stores and plays 2 and 3 hour videos, more than 4GB no problems.

However not all Android devices can use EXFAT. Moto G5 Plus I don't know.

Hi mikedt, I very much appreciate your help!
I am now recalling that the interrupted video I made was done before installing the micro-SD.. This means that there was a problem with the phone storage causing the video to stop recording at 52:42. Perhaps it was just a coincidence that the file was at 4.1GB. It would be helpful to know what went wrong.
I'm going to remove the micro-SD, free up as much space as I can, and try recording another video.
I'm not quite ready to get a 512GB micro-SD, but if you have any suggestions how to reduce the file size so that I can record for a full hour I'd love to hear it.
I should check into EXFAT for my Moto G5Plus. A 512GB micro-SD card would be awesome, and then I wouldn't have to worry about file sizes.
Thank you.
