send text message from dialer?

Someone called me whose number I don't have saved in the phone, but I want to reply with a text message, and if I click it in the diialer, it auto dials it. I'm used to having on other phones the ability to click and then choose an action, such as dial, text, save, or mms. Any clue on how to do this?

Do you mean under the call log section of the dialer? if so a long press on the number will bring up a list of options, one of them being Send SMS

Ah yes. Thank you. Although a short press should activate the same menu, since you can quick dial using the call button, no need to be redundant.

Have you tried the above recommended method?
There is no redundancy. There are options on almost all screens, many of which can always be accessed with a press/hold or pressing menu button.
