sending sms to a group

hi guys - ive got a htc desire s, i recieve jokes from mates and want to send them to certain people on my phone, at the moment im having to go to the phone book and selecting people one at a time and putting a tick by their name...then i can forward the sms to them...very time consuming,....i have tried to create a group called "JOKES"...but i cannot add a contact to that group, ideally i would like to add at least 20-30 people that i can send the sms in one go...any help and advice please...?ta

I use Handcent, free from the Market, for doing exactly what you're doing.
