Sensation verses One X

Hi All,

I'm a relative newbie to HTC's, My first was a Desire and now on a Sensation. However due to various problems and bugs since ICS my Sensation feels and runs like a 1980 Austin Allegro. HTC support cannot help (done soft & hard resets and sent a bug report) and they have advised I have to "wait for an update" something I'm not happy about as my phone is like my right arm - and we know how important that is!

So I complained to HTC and they have offered me a HTC One X as a replacement but (and it's a BIG but for me) the replacement will not be a brand new phone but parts of different faulty phones made into a new phone! To start with I thought no way, but I guess if this replacement phone is poor or riddled with bugs then I'll quickly let HTC know I'm not happy.

However my questions are-
a) What do you think about this replacement phone?

b) Is the One X as good as made out in the reviews?

c) Should I keep my Sensation and hold out for this update which could take up to 8 weeks I'm told?

Cheers
RugbyA

Are they offering this replacement free of charge and do you get to keep your Sensation? If so you have nothing to lose really, though I feel it does seem odd that they would go to all the trouble of removing parts from faulty units to build one working unit.

Well so long as you know you're going to get somewhat biased answers posting in a HTC One X sub-forum, but I would say, what are you waiting for?!

The phone is a lovely bit of kit in my opinion, and a damn sight better than the Sensation. Especially if you're comfortable with rooting and flashing a better ROM than the stock one :)

The deal is return my Sensation to get the 'refurb' One X.

I'm not into rooting as I'm not that technical - I just want a 'stock' phone that works PROPERLY, which is what the Sensation no longer does after ICS.

Another query I have is - if there is no memory card slot does this create problems of accessing files etc?

I'm also a bit wary of not being able to remove the battery, as a common fault I have with the Sensation requires me to remove the battery.

I would think it'd be worth it.

I use to be a RadioShack store manager so know all about refurbed phones. I wouldn't hesitate on the trade. they come with the same warranty as a brand new one and I've purchased plenty in the past. We use to call dibs on them when we got them in the store cause they were cheaper lol.

There is absolutely no problem with accessing files on the HOX it's just like any memory stick. There was an issue with disappearing space on the phone when transferring from pc to phone but that was fixed in the last update so just update the phone and you'll be good to go. :D

I'm also a bit wary of not being able to remove the battery, as a common fault I have with the Sensation requires me to remove the battery.

On the One X if you hold the volume down and power buttons it simulates a battery pull, and I've not had any issue that this couldn't cure so far, although to be fair I've not had to do it (for that reason at least) very often at all.

My nephew got the Sensation & i got the One X, i will say i get better battery life than he does most of the time.

2 questions though

1. is your phone the sensation or the xe model, if its the straight sensation you will benefit from beats on the one x.

2. do you use a 32gb sd card on your sensation or is it bigger as the one x is fixed at 32gb of which you get 25gb for your self.
the on board storage you will find is quicker than sd card storage though.

If it was me i would jump for the One X.

A refurb from HTC will have been tested and will cosmetically look like a new phone, and as has been said will have a full warranty. TBH if it were me I'd take it, unless you need more storage than the One X offers.
