How do I separate my text messages from by emails?

I'm not sure what device you're using, but they should not be combined unless it's a specially skinned app.
The Messaging app opens up texts only, and the Email/Gmail apps open up your mail only.
If you have a special app that combines the two, it's probably there as a convenience and can be removed from your homescreen without deleting it from the phone. Just long press the widget and slide it to the trash can that appears (on most devices). Hope this helps!
