serious problem

I've had my EVO for about a week now and i've been trying to figure out the most efficient way to get a good days worth of battery. Nothing I have done has worked so far, maybe I am missing something. I am only getting about an hour and 45 minutes of actual use out of the phone and its on standby for about 8 hours and needs to be charged. Is this normal? I dont think it is...
I installed ATK to see if it would help kill apps that I dont need running, but it didnt seem to change much even on aggressive kill setting. I did have it set to kill whenever the screen turned off, but i just changed it to every half hour.

would i benefit from rooting to get rid of Sense UI? any suggestions would be great! thank you

..sorry for the long post...

Man that definitely sounds short to me. I get a almost a full day with moderate use and if it were me with that issue, I'd be right back to Sprint. There's folks who suggest plugging your phone in, charging it to green, switching it off, charging it to green and so on until whenever you switch on/off, it posts green right away (leave it plugged in the entire time when cycling power). I haven't had the time to try that yet but those who have say it works wonders. Good luck, right!

Getting rid of Sense doesn't do squat. I got rid of it, turned off all the animations, paid for the app killer--the nice one. I got the phone as lean as I could following as many suggestions as I could find online and the best I got out of the phone was about nine hours and I didn't listen to Pandora which I do a lot while I'm at work. It's a dinky battery (1500 mAh) and HTC admits that the battery life sucks but it's a lot of technology to ride on that little battery so I'm still impressed. In many ways, it's replaced my laptop which gives me 3.5 hours of juice. You might want to check out this 1800 mAh out.

Yeah opt for the extended battery, and maybe an external charger for the car. I keep two fully charged batteries at home, one in the car, one at work, and one in the pocket. Swappin batteries out before I leave a place is easy & quick.

Tapatalk. Samsung Moment. Yep.

well today was even worse on battery life i don't know if it the battery i have or my phone.
i used it for maybe 30 minutes today and it was locked for 8 and was dead at the end of my work day. this cannot be normal, even if some things are being updated it should still last more than 8 hours on standby. i even had ATK kill apps every 30 minutes... i don't know what to do.
