*has lived in GA for 20 years, had cell service for 10 of those*
First off, none of the re-brands are much good except TracFone (which is like $0.50/min) unless you are very careful with phone models and get (I think) Straight Talk that runs off Verizon.
T-mobile is a joke, poor reception and usually piggybacking on AT&T
Sprint if ok *if* you have a 4G LTE phone and 4G LTE reception, their 3G has degraded to around 200kbps (I can actually turn off 3G and use 1xRTT and get better speeds in certain areas)
If you want GSM go with AT&T, it's got good coverage in most places, if you want CDMA go with Verizon. I generally had no problems with either, but I did notice Verizon had more bars than AT&T usually, but less data-speed (~1.5mbps) if you werent in an VZW LTE area (AT&T has HSDPA+ "4G" that gets around 5mbps usually, but can go as high as 8mbps in some areas)
If your already in with VZW, I'd suggest staying with them. Overall their coverage is very good from what I've seen in Northern/Central GA (never gone down past Atlanta though, might be a different story if you go down there)
