what did you guys do about the insurance plan for your EVO? i still have a week or so to pick up insurance and i'm considering the $7 a month charge. what did you guys decide.

what does it cover?

I haven't really looked at the Sprint plan but I am thinking of going with Squaretrade.
$144 for 2 years. SquareTrade Warranties | Extended Warranties for 70% Less Than Retail | Electronics Insurance Alternative
Cancel anytime and get the unused portion of your warranty price back. Cancellation within the first 60 days will receive a full refund. Cancellations beyond 60 days receive a pro-rated refund.

Additionally, you can transfer your warranty anytime at no charge. All accidental damage claims (e.g. drops, spills, and water damage) are subject to a $50 deductible.

Normal failures like battery failures are not subject to a deductible.

EDIT
Well, the squaretrade cell phone warranty is not as good as their camera warranty. On cell phones, they don't cover loss. Looks like Sprint does.

Edit2
Just signed up for the Sprint warranty.

Are you talking about the insurance through Sprint (TEP/Assurion) which costs $7/month?
If you are, then it covers EVERYTHING with a $100 deductible for the EVO. It even covers lost phones. They are extremely fast in replacing the unit. The last time i used the insurance was when i had a Palm Pre and lost it. I went to the website, filled out a quick and simple form and about a day later my new/refurbished palm pre in mint condition had arrived. The $100 might sound a little steep but if you compare it to actually buying a new Evo it's well worth it...

Isn't the $100 deductible for a lost phone? If you damage the phone & claim warranty there is no deductible.

GET IT!!! Unless you got it at Best Buy, I heard their plan is good and it's only a one time fee of $40, correct me if I'm wrong there.

The $100 deductible is for if YOU physically damage the phone by dropping it or something AND if you lose your phone.

The only way that you can avoid a deductible is if the unit malfunctions on it's own...

"Equipment Replacement Program
* Insurance coverage for loss, stolen or physically damaged devices
* $50 or $100 non-refundable deductible applies per approved insurance replacement (depending upon your device). Please refer to the deductible schedule for a list of phones and associated deductibles
* For terms and conditions, see the coverage certificate

Equipment Service & Repair Program
* Provides coverage for mechanical or electrical failure, routine maintenance or failure
from normal wear and tear
* No additional out of pocket expenses to repair or replace your malfunctioning device

* For terms and conditions, see the service contract"

I would recommend Sprints $7 a month insurance. I have used it twice over the last several years and had a replacement phone the next day both times. Its fast and easy, all done online. There is a 100 dolallar deductable on high end devices (EVO, Epic). Many insurances plans with no deductable do not cover everything, such as lost and stolen devices. If you want 100% coverage with fast and easy replacements, go with the Sprint insurance.

No it's $10 a month for Best Buy's insurance. The only good thing about it is there's no deductible. The bad news is it takes a week to maybe a month to get your phone fixed.

Yes there is a deductible if you damage your phone. My wife's Moment kinda got smashed on Sunday and we had to have the $100 deductible charged to our account.
