Service

I am considering switching to Metropcs, but their reviews about their service are awful. I am wondering if T-Mobile is doing much to address the service issues and the overall operation of Metropcs.

I guess depending on your area the service might be bad. Personally i have had no issues with service from Metro. They are essentially T-Mobile so if you have service issues with T-Mobile your going to have them with Metro.

when you say service, are you referring to network service (phone connection, call quality, data speed etc..) or customer service (advise, trouble shoot, account service)?

network service depends on the location so check with coverage map and ask friends or forum users around your area.

For the customer service quality, I will say it is very subjective depends on one's experience..

in my case... i rarely contact any metro PCS personnel, i buy new phone from internet, activate through automatic system, pay the bills online auto pay, i can do few tricks with the phones myself so no trouble shoot needed.

the only time I need to speak with real person is when i cant activate/switch phone through automatic voice system, in that case i would have to speak with the actual customer service rep and my experiences were all good. they knew my situation and quickly addressed all the issues

i am fine with metro service so far

If you're asking about network service/reception - how old are the reviews you're reading? Metro recently switched to T-Mobiles towers so 2 or 3 year old reviews wont be accurate.

And as Bard said, reception is different in each city.

I've had Metro since Feb 2011 and have had great service (reception, call quality, etc). I'm in the Dallas area, and that is Metro's home area so service is great. Like bard said, I haven't really had any dealings with their customer service. I've called once or twice with questions about my bill, early on in 2011. I got someone that didn't speak great English, so it was a little difficult to communicate but it was all worked out. I have also been on their on-line chat and had no problems what so ever. I have also been into a corporate store and had decent help (most recently to get my Moto G on Metro service). There have been people on here saying that you get great assistance from posting (politely) on their Facebook page. All of this was before T-Mobile (well, except my adding my Moto G to Metro). I think that some of the reviews you read were from people that were just disgruntled and wrote trash.

Well you have to take all that into account. If you think of the millions of users using Metro's service then even 487 complaints is less than 1% of its customer base. As far as the Rebate issue goes. A lot of people do not read the terms of the rebate, and either submit it to early, or to late to get the rebate. I have never had payment issues either online or in the store, bill has always been exactly the same for the 3 years i have been with Metro.

I have always done my cell purchasing in store, and again never had an issue be it with a private dealer, or with Metro Corp store. I don't like to order online and wait for my new toy. I like to have it right now.

Within 2 weeks upgrading from L70 (Piece of Crap) to Galaxy S5. Wife is upgrading from S3 to S5.

Just hoping they put some rebates or discounts out soon.

i try not to ever walk into a store. i've had no issues with switching phones or plans as i always deal with online reps who are very helpful. recently switching my plan and phone(OnePlus One) to take advantage of BYOD with an online rep was a breeze.

as far as network, as already mentioned, this will vary from location to location. check the official coverage map, go to your nearest metro store and surf the web on their display phones, and find some friends or people living around your way who are on metro and ask them about the quality of their phone service.
