Setting MSS to a longer expiration time

Is it possible to set my mss to expire a few days from the time it was sent? I'm using a virgin mobile venture and atm a mss will expire a few hours after it was sent. If I receive the message at work or while I'm sleeping it will expire before I even get a chance to see/read it and have to ask the person to re send it.

Virgin Mobile USA? I was with them for years... is the MMS expire specific to the Venture? I've not heard of MMS messages expiring before.

Yes, USA. I'm not sure if it's it's Virgin Mobile exclusive or just a setting in my phone.
