Help sg3 multi questions (sorry)

hi feb 14 new sg3. i have a few questions to ask and am sorry to put them all in one spot, but i thought it might be easier for me and the replies.

sg3 outside works GREAT msg, txt etc, soon as i enter home make a call "not registered on network", sending txt takes for ever - get "no network connection", sometimes fails. (my blackberry curve worked with NO problems. Question, cld this be the sg3 antenna not being as good as the BB. also advised the tower i am connected to is in need of repair (lol). Also a new tower being built.

also rooting? is it necessary to root.

what apps can safely be removed that come with sg3?

i have more questions but these are my main ones right now.

appreciate any and all suggestions and tka.

OK, first question, What carrier are you with?
Next, rooting is great in that it helps to remove what is called bloatware. In other words garbage that the carrier puts on there. Rooting helps you run more efficient & faster
The apps safe to remove will usually be removed in a custom ROM, then again that comes with being rooted.

hi there and thank you for responding so quickly, my carrier is Telus. and i have read that rooting, will void yr warranty? what happens if i just move say the game hub app from apps to the garbage can at top of screen does that actually delete it from the sg3?

also just to let you know, every other cell phone works awesome in my house, the only ones that have problems in connectivity are the sg3's lol

Lol uuhhhmm don't know who telus is, sorry. Yes, rooting does void your warranty. Moving an app to the garbage can just removes it from your screen. There are only 2 ways to remove an app: from the playstore, if it was downloaded there. The other is through rooting.

lol telus are in canada they r awesome but i am really beginning to think the service inside my house is due to the antenna as i have heard that sg3 antennas are not as good as BB. oh well. i dont want to root as i may yet return this phone, but how wld one go about disabling an app from running? thank you again for yr quick response and help

Ok, did some checking. Lol yeah just found out you're in Canada. Telus has a forum site here. Look under android carriers & you'll find it there. They could give you better answers geared for that company.
But I can tell you that some apps you can simply disable. Go into settings into app manager, then look under all. Look for the one(s) you want, click on that & if it's able to be disabled there should be a tab at the top part of the page.
Good luck

oh yes!!!!! ty i am having fun disabling stuff i dont use. hoping that this well help with battery use too. cheers. appreciate all your help. oh and btw i have contacted telus 7 times since thursday night LOL, and connectivity they believe boils down to the tower i am connected to needing repair which according to them will be done in the 1st 1/4 of this year (ya right lol). meanwhile have found a couple of "sweet" spots in my house which work for now. enjoy your day :)

my carrier is Telus.

It sounds like it could be an issue with Telus's network if what you say is true about the towers being worked on. Do you know of anyone else who is also on Telus who could at least come over to where you live and compare the signal strength? I know that where I live, Telus has a very weak signal in my house. I've gone through half a dozen phones and all experience loss of signal and dropped calls.

also rooting? is it necessary to root.

It depends on what you really want to do. If you are not familiar with rooting and have no interest in it, I would suggest you not root the phone for now. If you really want to do something that cannot be done without rooting, then you can investigate rooting.

What is it that you think you need rooting for?

thanks for all your replies but after 1 week i have decided to return my sg3 and go back to my blackberry curve as that works in my house!!!!. telus are repairing 1 tower i am connected to the first 1/4 of this year???? and a new tower is also being built sometime this year, in the meantime like i told them, that really doesnt help me if i cant call out in emergencies lol. and the only phones that have connection problems in my house are the SG3's every other phone works fine.

My question to you is do you have any problems outside of your house? Obviously if you don't, it's the signal strength in your house. Also, you say your other phones work ok. Are these landlines, voip or other cell phones? This should give you a clue. Finally, what prompted you to give up your Blackberry Curve. Maybe you should try out another Android based phone if you like the SG3 features. Just a few thoughts. Ken
