Help SG3 obstacles to overcome

I made a list last night of things my SG3 can't do that my iPhone would do. Some of these are big deals to me so if you could me out I'd greatly appreciate it.

1. My SG3 can't connect to my MacBook air. I've done Google searches and I can't come up with anything. The only thing it will do is charge the phone, nothing else. So I'm having to do everything on slow HP laptop and that's very aggravating.

2. The ear buds that comes with the phone will pause music, change the volume and when on a call it will end it, but nothing else. On the iPhone I could use siri and give other voice commends with the ear buds and never even look at the phone. With the SG3, I have to visibly look at the phone and go to the application I'm wanting to give a voice command.

3. I've spent more time with this than anything, but for some reason my genre isn't syncing correctly with my phone. The title, album and album artwork syncs fine, but not that genre. I called Samsung and they told me to try using PC studio and that didn't work either. So I've tried Kies, PC Studio, drag and drop on my PC and nothing works to correct the genre.

I'm hoping these issues can be corrected with some settings that I'm not familiar with. If I can get these corrected today, then I'll be 100% happy with this phone. If these are issues I'll just have to deal with, then I'll call my friend at AT&T and have them hold me an iPhone 5 to swap out. I really don't want to do the later, but I need this phone to do the things that are important to me and these things are important.

I'm looking forward to reading the replies and hopefully getting my issues resolved.

What a bummer!!!!! I decided to call Samsung support and these features I'm wanting doesn't exist on the SG3.

This phone is great for someone new to the smartphone world, but for someone like me who's been with the iPhone for 4 years, there's just too many obstacles to overcome, so I'm going to get the iPhone 5 tomorrow.

I appreciate all of you that helped with all of my questions.

Have you tried using the AirDroid application to connect to your Mac? I'm on a custom ROM so Kies and Android File Transfer won't work for me -- I use AirDroid to move files from my Mac over to my S3 with no issues.

It's got quite a nice interface as well, and easy to use. (It works over WiFi).

I've had quirks with the earbuds as well, that's probably my biggest gripe having converted from iOS to Android. Occasionally my podcast app (Doggcatcher) will launch and start playing when I click the Play/Pause button on the remote instead of the music app I was just using to listen to my playlist, etc. It's a little quirky.

When you get the Jelly Bean update, you'll be able to "Long Press" the remote button to send it commands -- Google Now is far superior to S-Voice in my experience. Hopefully the official release is in the next month or two. (I'm on Jelly Bean now, but using a custom ROM).

Overall, it takes some time getting use to the little changes, but I'm super happy with the gorgeous big screen, smooth/quick UI, and customizability. Hang in there. :)

I use Android File Transfer (which is made by Google) to see and transfer files to my Macbook. You have to change the mode to 'Camera' when you plug the phone in (you can do this by pressing the notification that pops up when you connect and there's MTP and Camera options I think)

This is my 2nd time trying to swicht from a iphone,

First attempt was with a droid 3, due to the aweful screen and limited bluetooth audio support of my Jeep I went back to the iPhone.

This time however with the S3 the screen is awesome the phone is super fast, and I got a update for my bluetooth audio in my Jeep.

I found the best way to transfer music to my S3 is isyncr, they even have a music player called rocket player that will even play Apple Lossless.

I never had siri on my old iphone, and when i tried it on friends it was lame,

I am so happy with my switch from a iPhone that i sold my iPhone 4 yesterday :)

-As mentioned by some of the posts above mine, try using Android File Transfer, AirDroid or DoubleTwist.

-Voice commands may or may not improve with some of these 3rd party apps. Also, with the update to Jelly Bean using Google Now instead of S-Voice, you should see much better overall boice controls. Jelly Bean is available if you are willing to put a custom ROM on your phone and I can vouch that it works silky smooth but also understanding while not difficult, it is not for everyone.

-This all goes back to using an alternative media player such as DoubleTwist. Honestly, give DoubleTwist on your phone and DoubleTwist on your Mac a try. It is essentially like using iTunes but for your Droid.

Unfortunately, Samsung is going to tell you the phone can't do what you want it to because they don't offer software or features natively. You can almost always find a 3rd party title available for your Android and have the option of setting it as the default software.

If these don't work out for you at least you know you've given it a go. iPhone is still a great device regardless of arguments on both ends of the spectrum. Some people it's preference, some it's ability to learn and for others it just plain and simple isn't for them. Personally I can go back and forth and enjoy both for their positives. I typically end up back on Android because I love having access to my file system, being able to put things exactly where I want them and knowing I can tweak or ROM over anything I don't like.

Good luck with whatever you choose!
