ShareIt

Guest
Hi,

I have a "Super Bluetooth shar" notification that appears once in a while. I then go to my apps and see that the ShareIt application was installed without my permission. I then uninstall it and the notification appears again after a few days...
What should I do to get rid of it?

Thanks

PS: I have android 4.3.3

It shouldn't be possible for an app to be installed without your consent. Downloaded, sure, but the install dialogue should still come up during any attempt to install it. The exception is if someone has your Play Store password they could push an app to your phone, but there would still be a notification that this was done, and anyway this sounds a bit more automatic to me.

One thing I'd suggest is installing an app called Addons Detector, running a scan and checking whether any of your apps contain "push notifications" add-ons. That type of advertising tool has been banned from the Play Store now, but if one of your apps has it there are a number of unwelcome things it can do. So if you find any apps do have this, I suggest uninstalling them and seeing whether this fixes your problem.

If you can't find anything, then if you have the option to install apps from "unknown sources" (i.e. anything other than the play store) try turning it off for a while and see whether this stops the reappearance. Also if you can spot any pattern to when it appears, e.g. after visiting particular websites. And if you've ever installed apps from one of those dodgy sites that offers paid apps for free, treat anything installed from there with extreme suspicion: those sites frequently include malware in the apps they distribute.

I forgot to say that my phone was shipped from China, that might be the cause of the problem...

I used Addons detector a few weeks ago. Each time this shareit notification appeared, Addons detector would appear as well and tell me that this shareit app contains ads or maybe push notifications. When I clicked on one of them, Addons detector told me it was dangerous cause it was sending data to a server based in China. The only problem is that it couldn't prevent shareit from being installed (or find the origin of the problem).

Then I installed Avast antivirus yesterday. It detected 3 trojans and deleted them.

Now I am waiting a few days to see if this shareit application appears again...

Wait and see!

OK, good luck. Let us know if it comes back and we'll see what we can work out.

If it returns and the OS lets you disable it that might be a simpler solution than having to uninstall it ever few days. But it would be good to know what is installing it, so hopefully the apps you just removed will have been the cause.

Hello again,
I haven't seen this application again in one week, so I guess installing an antivirus solved the problem :).
Thanks!
