Help Shiny New Phone, Shiny Old Plan

ICON32181

Newbie
Hello everyone,

Please point me in the right direction if this has been discussed before:

I'm considering buying a new phone, but I want to stay on my old (see: 'unlimited web') plan. If I go out and buy a phone via 3rd party somewhere and activate it, will the carrier realize I've done this and forcibly edit my plan as they do not support unlimited web anymore, or will my plan stay the same and I'll have a shiny new phone to reek havoc with?

Thank You!

I suppose it depends where in the world you are, which carrier you're with and what contract you're on.

They will know you changed phones. But I doubt that will cause them to change your plan. You could ask them before investing in a shiny new phone.

Talking good ol' 'Big Red'.

I feel like if I ask my 'good friends' at Verizon, they're going to tell me it's not gonna fly and shut down my unlimited. I just don't know if they can just change my plan without me consenting to it (outside of purchasing a new phone, even though it wouldn't be through them)
