One of the benefits of the internet is the wealth of great literature out there for free, so I thought a thread with some good reads would be nice.
I remember reading Arthur C. Clarke's "The Nine Billion Names of God" many moons ago and being fascinated by the story. It's still a terrific read and one I enjoy every year or two. Very short, you can burn through it very quickly, and you can just read it on-line, for free.

And for those of you who don't know, http://www.online-literature.com/ has a wealth of classical stuff on it. In fact, the first book I read online was not one you'd normally do in that fashion, it was Dicken's "Nicholas Nickelby" (I read it on a Blackjack II...painful!). There are lots of short stories as well as poetry on the OL site as well as the novels.
Anyway, post the ones YOU like so we can share them around.

A good a short story, I enjoyed it. I love Arthur C. Clarke's "Rama" novels and I can read any Isacc Asimov novel and do nothing else until I've finished it (ah for four hours or so, a comfy chair, a large pot of coffee and something from Asimov I have not yet discovered)
