Shortcut to QuickOffice Files

I am not sure if this is even possible... However -

I have an Excel file I have stored on my SD card. I can open it fine if I browse to it using any file manager app. But, I would like to place a shortcut to this file on my home screen for quick/easy access.

Is that possible? If so, I've not figured out how.

Also, as a newbie with Android and QuickOffice - I can open the file, but I cannot edit or change it. Is that normal for the quick office app or am I doing something wrong?

THX!

Most file manager can place a shortcut for a folder/file on the home screen.
I use Estrongs File Explorer.
Open file manager and choose your file. Long press on the file name. On the popup menu choose shortcut ... voila ... file is as shortcut on the home screen :)

Wow.. I need to get in here more often!! LOL
Harry - the file manager I'm using is stock and did not give me that option.. I will have to try out Estrongs and see how I like it... (or others possibly)...

Any idea on why I cannot edit the file?? Or, is that just not an option for quickoffice?

My stock QickOffice on my HTC Desire HD can only read files too.

For Excel files to edit, I use E-cell xls Light - Android (the paid version).

That app is cheaper than the paid versions of QickOffice or DocumentsToGo ;)
