Should I allow the Google Location Service?

If you search Google on your phone it will personalize the search by checking where you are and adjust results to your location. If you search for pizza it will automatically find pizza near the place you are.

Would apps be able to abuse this in any way?
It is frequently used to serve location-specific ads (as a means of supporting freeware apps). Turning it off won't eliminate the ads AFAIK, though, they just won't be as targeted.
