Should I buy Moto X (1st gen) now or wait?

Hi guys,
I want to buy an unlocked Moto X (1st gen), should I buy it now ($ 350) or do you guys think the price will drop when we're closer to the new Moto X release?

I'm guessing that once the new Moto X becames available at motomaker, the 1st gen won't be available anymore, right?

Thank you!

I just bought a used (3 month old) 2013 Moto X for $150 and I'm very happy with it. Came from a Samsung Galaxy S3. Day and night improvement! So happy I don't have the S3 anymore. I'd say yes to buying it, no regrets for me.

I just bought a used Moto X as well for about $200. I love it a lot. The camera is meh, and battery life is disappointing for me (I'm coming from a Razr Maxx HD though). It's a great phone.

That being said, I'm on Verizon now. When i switch in a few months, I'm getting a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact.

Coming from the Samsung GS3, the battery life is awesome! End of the workday with the GS3 I had about 40% of the battery left, usually under 20% by the time I went to bed. Last night with the X, 60% after work, 50% at bed time.

How? I'm usually at 20% or less when I go to bed. A number of times I've been on 1 or 2%.

Not sure why, I usually don't use my phone that much while at work. It's 8am right now, phone at 93% and I unplugged it at 5am. My GS3 would be in the mid 80's by now.

I'm having similar results. I can pretty much go 2 days (off charger at 5:30-6am then back on charger the following night 10-11pm) between charges.

Between active notifications and the Moto Connect extension for Chrome, I'm not constantly checking my phone. I think the signal reception is much better than my S3 which helps with battery too.

I ordered a "designed by me" Gen 1 the day before the Gen 2 was announced. LOVE the phone and it replaced my previous favorite phone ever, the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE.

Just want to advise though that you would probably want to do 2 things right after you get it (for you or anyone that decides to go for it)....

1. Disable as much of the bloatware as you don't want. You can even turn off that insidious (imo) OK Google Now and so on. gah. I hate talking to machines.

2. Download Nova Launcher to remove other stuff that Kit Kat won't let you touch.

Do those 2 things and maybe you'll agree with me that the Moto X 2013 is an AWESOME phone!

Nova Launcher Prime is simply great.

There were many reasons why people chose to root. One of them was to stop looking at the pre-installed software that they hated in the app drawer. With Nova ... hide it or move it to a different page in the app drawer and never look at it ... stay un-root-ed.

The notification bar at the top of all home pages. I double-tap on the screen and it toggles it off or on. I have it off 99% of the time.

Backup all your launcher settings. Do a Factory Data Reset. Restore all your launcher settings.

The list goes on.

Install it and try it. An option is added to your Settings that allows you to choose which launcher to use.
