should I get the HTC dream? (htc g1)

so I live in Canada under Rogers and I have the option to get the HTC dream for 200 with extended battery brand new. I want a android device with a keyboard add the milestone is too expensive right now... just wondering if it is really that bad? I will root it and what not. I have the HTC magic eight now so its not that bad.

Not that i know much on the subject, but i hear that theres a lot better ones. Why not the MyTouch 3G slide? Probably a lot snappier, and you get your keyboard. It's T-mobiles own phone though so you might be able to get it unlocked off ebay or something.

i was thinking about that phone, but the problem is that its going to end up costing me 350+ because of shipping and overall cost of the phone, if i was going to go on ebay i could get a Motorolla Milestone ( same thing as the droid) for 350.. but thats 150 more then im willing to spend.
