Should I just drink the Kool-Aid??

Well, my contract is almost up and I'm definitely going to renew with Verizon but I'm conflicted... do I make the switch and join the masses and get the new Verizon iPhone or do I go with the latest and greatest of the new Android phones?

I really wish that the Atrix was going to launch on Verizon but since that ain't happening, what's going to be the hot new Android phone on Verizon to go up against the iPhone next month?

Another variable to this is I currently carry around an iPod touch because I have a ton of music, movies, podcasts and apps that I have purchased and downloaded through the years on iTunes. Obviously the iPhone would let me just have to worry about carrying around one device from now on and not have to worry about converting files or buying an extra SD card to fit all this stuff on one device.

Any thoughts or advice from you guys would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'd convert my music to an open format, buy a big fat SD card, copy the music to it, and buy a Droid... That way, you get one device, all your music, and are on an open architecture.

There are tons of bulk converters out there, as long as the music isn't DRM'd.

But, alas, I'm biased. I'm an open-source guy through and through.

Even though the app market for Android isn't as good as iPhone. I'm still going to stick to Android. If something doesn't work like I want it to on my phone, I can change it. I can change the launcher, the dialer, the SMS app, the email app, the music player. With the iPhone, you get what they give you, and if you don't like it, you're screwed. Granted most of their stuff is really good, but I prefer having a choice in how my phone operates.

Plus I have always hated iTunes and their stupid insistence on using QuickTime for everything (worst piece of software, ever).

I'm a Mac guy. I prefer Android for my phone. But, given your situation with an iPod Touch that you've bought all that music, etc.. for, I would suggest going iPhone just so you don't have to carry two devices. The music, podcasts and movies could be moved over to an Android device but the apps? Nope.

Myself, I wouldn't fall to that side... you mentioned the Atrix, have ya seen the Droid Bionic coming to VZW??? same phone, AFAIK, but 4G LTE. go to motorola and check the specs on that. Its looking like that might be my next move....

I'd say its time to cut tbe cord, why ppl keep locking themselves in tighter and tighter to one device, or family of devices baffles me. I had music on my BB. I popped that card in my android phone and wow I had music there too! No software required.

I did hear about the Bionic too... I really wish that they'd let us know when it's coming out or what the pricing will be on it. I mean, what if it isn't coming out until the same time the iPhone 5 will be coming out? If I'm going to wait that long for the Bionic, then I might as well hold out for the iPhone 5. I think that it would just put me right back here where I'd want to see what Apple does with that.

I think I am leaning towards switching to the iPhone though. I love my Droid and everything you guys have said is dead on but I'm going to have to buy a 32 gig SD card, along with the new phone. Then go through and figure out how to transfer everything and buy all new apps... It really is unbelievable, I don't even have an iPhone yet and I'm already so dependent on iTunes. lol!

32 gig iphone is 299, you can pick up 32 gig sd cards for 50 bucks, that work in pretty much every phone? Unlock the music and stop feeding the pig.

32gb micro sd cards are getting cheaper and cheaper. And what was announced at CES is really just the first wave. Verizon WILL have something similar to the Atrix within a year of its release on ATT. And don't get the iphone4 when 5 is right around the corner, esp with verizon new upgrade policy.

I would stick it out, maybe buy a used phone so you dont extend your contract for the time being. I am sure a decent amount of Inc/X/D2 will go up for sale used soon when iphone4 drops.
