Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded my phone to the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and I am loving it! I've only had it a few days now but I've been receiving various update notifications from T-Mobile. I figure these were probably released some time ago, and that the factory software on my phone is outdated. I'm been allowing all of the updates, except that I've been postponing the update for changing the OS from Lollipop to Marshmallow. I'm hoping to get some sound advice here before deciding to go through with it or not.
The reason for my hesitation is that on my last phone, which was a Samsung Galaxy S Blaze, I updated the software at one point from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich, and I regretted it. The update didn't offer any real benefits in my opinion, other than adding a restart feature. My phone's flashlight function was lost in the update and I ended up having to download a third party app for that. Worst of all, my phone was much slower, especially when texting or taking photos, and apps seemed to crash more frequently.
I have also read some comments online from various people about problems they had when updating the OS to Marshmallow. Considering my previous experience with an OS update and the experiences of others, I'm sure you can understand my concerns.
Are there any good reasons for updating to Marshmallow? Have most people had good experiences with this update? Are there any features I will lose? Is there an easy way to revert back to Lollipop if I am not satisfied? As stated, I love my Note 5 the way it is. I think I'd be perfectly fine with not updating, but there's another problem here. I've postponed the update a few times, and now the postpone option is deactivated. The only option available is to update. Also, I can't swipe this notification away to get rid of it. It's like they're trying to force it upon me. Is there any way to decline the update and make this notification disappear (but if I change my mind later, still be able to update)?
Thank you for reading, and I appreciate your help!
