Should I Upgrade to HD From Atrix 2?

I have literally read 20+ different reviews and the battery life and camera are the problem areas on all of them. That said, I don't use my phone as my camera when on vacation or when the pictures are important, and I have a car charger and spare office charger, so charging during the day isn't that much of a hassle for me.

HD performs nearly as well as the HTC One in nearly every category, and has some of the same hardware. I am seriously considering the HD as my next phone. I have the Atrix 2 and am unhappy with some of the quirks that the upgrade to ICS has caused. It seems that the upgrade from ICS to Jelly Bean was not nearly as problematic as for the HD.

And I can go to AT&T and get a $100 gift card for upgrading to HD OR just go to Radio Shack and get the HD for FREE with a re-newed contract.

Any reason I SHOULDN'T go with HD?

(I posed this question in another thread and then though it better as its own thread.)

I am a professed Motorola "fan boy" so bare that in mind.

I had the backflip (turrible phone, just turrible) but went from that to the Atrix 4G - best phone I had ever had. My wife and mother both have the Atrix 2 and when my upgrade came up I jumped on the Atrix HD.

With regard to your statement that hardware wise it stands up to anything I would disagree. The One X+ is a much better phone hardware wise (no micro sim card option) but much better processor, equal in many other ways. Then the ONE and Galaxy S4 that were just released make this phone look like a kids toy ... but I digress.

Overall, it's a good phone. But I caution you. If you are sticking with ATT there are better options. Read through this forum and you will see lots of issues. Mine seemed to be one of the perfect ones and then 3 or so weeks ago the screen died. (Phone still worked but the leds for the screen would no longer light up - nice ) I am now awaiting my THIRD warranty replacement device both of the first 2 had GPS issues. Fingers crossed that third time is the charm.

I will refrain from carrier bashing but when my contract is up and am leaving AT&T, again there are better options out there.

If you are dead set on the HD; like I said; if you get a good one, it's a solid if unspectacular device. With upgrade it's free at BB and heck, PM me I have the car dock and other goodies I'd let go of real cheap ... I won't need them.
;)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I will certainly keep the GPS and LED issues in mind.

I was fairly certain that the phones I compared ALL had the Snapdragon Dual Core Processor. This was considered a plus in many reviews because LTE sometimes has issues working with quad-core processors. I'm no techie, so I was over my head at the beginning of this paragraph.

I am a loyal fan of AT&T....for nearly 15 years now. I've had a couple sour experiences, but both were from store employees who had no clue what they were talking about. Both times I called AT&T service and the problems were taken care of immediately with apologies. I don't have anything bad to say about AT&T, but I understand the draw that other carriers have, particularly with phone selections.

If I spring for the HD, I may just take you up on your offer of accessories. When is your contract up? Mine is done the first week of June, which is when I will upgrade to something....

My upgrades are in June/July contracts are up in November/December. But that's beside the point. Regardless of if I stay with ATT or cancel, if the replacement phone #3 that I am supposed to get today at 3PM is faulty I will probably be picking up a cheap Craigslist phone that works or I will change carriers or phones. SO longer story shorter ... if you want the Car Dock, charger and HDMI cable let me know. They will most likely be available.
