Help shutdown at 97% battery capacity?

My Nexus 6P is shutting down at relativity high battery charge levels, sometimes as low as 75% but usually higher. Does this indicate a need for a battery replacement? Is leaving the phone plugged into the charging cable bad for the battery?

Thanks for your insights and opinions.

Wow, that's crazy high - but yeah, that generally indicates a hardware issue with the battery.

If the phone doesn't turn off while being plugged into a wall charger, it could be your battery that is faulty (mostly bad voltage or temperature sensor).

Happened to both of my 6P's. One was returned to Amazon for a full refund and the other one had a new battery replaced at my expense. Was ok for a couple of months and then battery started to rapidly drain. I believe there's a class action lawsuit out there because this was such a widespread issue with the 6P. I was so disappointed with Google and Huaweii that I switched to the iPhone. I own my own business and responding to calls is how I pay my bills. Since I made the switch everything has been great. Hard to do because I was an Android guy from day one but my business and my ability to make a living is more important.
