Have a galaxy S5 and hubby has Samsung Stellar. Our phones convert to 1x upon making or receiving phone calls. This has just started for us within the last 3 months. Problem is we drop calls with 1x and need to go outside and walk around in order to make calls. Have a friend 3 miles away that has the same issue with an Apple phone. Both of us have Verizon. Would really love some help or fix if there is one.

Sounds like a bad tower or two in your area - try contacting Verizon, say that you have a tower complaint.
I agree, but they will not listen. Last year purchased a network extender (myself and some friends) for $250 because they did not have an answer to our problem. Was OK for a little while, now past 3 months this. I'm feeling like we are getting the run around, and they are lowering our signal in order to service more people on the 3x and 4x band.
