"Signal Status" app ?

I was looking through the market this morning and found an app I had not seen before "Signal Status". It allows you to show the signal status in dBm on the status bar. Has anyone tried it. It seems to work great but I wonder about battery drain?

How much battery it uses will depend on how often its updating the status. If its real-time, I seems like it'd be a huge battery drain, but there is probably an option to change the frequency of updates.

Tried it out for the last few days and I did not notice a battery difference. I checked the cpu draw with system panel and it is basically nothing. Handy little app where coverage is questionable.
