Help Signal strength on AT&T

Lurker
Hi all,
I just activated my AT&T service (actually switched from iPh4 to N5). My signal bars show 4 (full) bars with a "H" next to it. What speeds is this? (HSPA+? or LTE?)

I was expecting the device to show 4G or LTE, but it has been showing H. I installed a speed test app and also ran a test. With my wifi turned off (of course :)) my downloads were as low as 0.01Mbps and uploads were 1Mbps. However I was able to open websites on chrome at reasonable speeds (definitely not as slow as 0.01Mbps).

Can anyone tell me if the H is indeed LTE speeds and if so what it stands for? Also why is speed test not working? As a sanity check I ran the speed test app with wifi and got download 8.8Mbps and upload 7Mbps.

Thanks,
Spy

Yes, I am in an LTE area. Also interestingly the "speedtest" app seems to be connecting to a server in Wichita KS (and I am in so.Cal), is this why the download rates are low?
Any ideas why speed test is not able to pick a server in Los Angeles (it does when I am on Wifi).

I too wonder about that I have a S4 and speed test was about 11.25 msp on down load, with my new n5 got about 1.5 msp, with LTE showing, then I went to another town all bars full, I got it peg at 50mps on LTE but then I went to work 2 miles away got the H and 1.5 mps same ATT never had this problem on S4 wonder if it a attenna problem

Mine does not seem to pick up LTE very well. I should LTE everywhere in my area. But my AT&T signal is a bit weak at my house and my N5 only shows the H there where my S2 used to get LTE. But in a stronger signal area it does pick it up.
