signing out of google maps

i got my phone a couple of days ago and i was wondering if i could sign out of google maps. the lady at verizon was setting up an account she spelt my name wrong. so i created a new name but i cant sign out on my phone to use the new account.

I don't know what you mean Sign out of Google maps, you mean sign out of the account on your phone right?

you should be able to add and account under settings > accounts and sync but the maps application is kinda buggy with accounts.

alternatively you can do a factory reset and just use the new account

Maps uses your google account info. Do you mean you didn't have a google account and she made one for you incorrectly?

Just go into account settings delete the incorrect one and replace it.

Carol C thanks for the welcome and yes thats what i meant sorry i didnt really know how to word it

alostpacket i added the other account but it wont sync to my phone

gentlefury i didnt have a google account before i bought the phone. when it try to remove the one account that the phone uses it says "this account is required by some applications. you can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (which deletes all your personal data). does that mean i need to back up my phone?

Yes you should definitely back up everything you can, export contacts from gmail etc etc.
