SIM card locked

I was having issues with the data on my phone and I called Sprint customer care. Twenty minutes of troubleshooting and he transferred me. Twenty minutes more and he opened a ticket.

On top of my slow data I now get an error message saying my sim card is locked. I need to power cycle the phone and call cs if it keeps happening. Well I do pc it and 20 later it happens again.

I used an app to check my signal strength and it says -96 dBm 48 asu.

I have no clue what that means or if it's good/bad.

I've checked around here the best I can. I don't have a computer so it's harder to navigate(especially with this error). I've been Googling and reading for hours now with no luck. Best thing I can find is to replace the SIM card. I physically checked it and it's inserted properly and seems fine.

I plan to go into the store tomorrow and see if they can do anything.

I was just wondering if there is anything else I can do beforehand?

That's not an extremely strong signal, but it's perfectly usable.

For info, dBm is a measure of real received signal strength (received power expressed in decibels relative to 1mW - I'm sure you feel much wiser now!). ASU are "arbitrary signal units", whose meaning depends on what type of cellular radio we are talking about. For LTE the valid range is 0-97, so 48 is in the middle of the range.

I think going into the store is your best option. The simplest solution will be if it's a problem with your SIM, since replacing the SIM will fix that very quickly and painlessly.
