First off, welcome to Android Forums 
I encountered this one time with my Droid Razr. I did the following to fix it:
- Remove your SIM
- Power off the device
- Insert SIM
- Power On your device
It should then start to recognize the sim. If this does not fix the problem, try contacting your carrier and they should be able to set you up with a new sim registered to you with all your info the same on it.
